Collan Darnall, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, ENP-C

Collan would like to be the first to welcome you to Empowered NP! He is excited about this adventure and hopes to positively impact the health of his community.

Collan’s nursing career began in 2008 after completing his second bachelor’s degree at Spalding University in Louisville, KY. His nursing experience encompassed several acute care areas including ICU and ER, pushing him to obtain his CCRN certification. After recognizing the need to expand his knowledge base, Collan completed his Master’s of Science and Nursing from Spalding University in 2013 and certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).  As an Advanced Practice Provider, he has enriched his career as an emergency room provider for the past 8 years. He earned his Emergency Nurse Practitioner certification in 2018 and served as a subject matter expert for the AANP certification board.

Collan has presented at several conferences including the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and Nurse-midwives on the topic of bedside procedures. Collan joined the graduate faculty at Spalding University in 2018 as an assistant professor for the MSN-FNP program. He taught several courses including pathophysiology, adult primary care, diagnostic reasoning, and the NP residency course. In 2020, Collan successfully matriculated through the highest level of nursing education earning his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Frontier Nursing University in Versailles, KY. His DNP project, The Implementation of Bronchitis Guidelines to Promote Timely Care in the Emergency Department sparked his desire to restore the relationship between patients and providers. In January 2022, Collan joined Integrative Health Specialists in Louisville, KY to offer Direct Primary Care services to Kentuckiana.

Collan is married to his amazing husband Michael, also an NP. They reside in Louisville with their two dogs.
